Important Lesson Basics

  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old. No maximum age, though fitness is a factor.
  • Weight Limit: 265 lbs. Weight requirements are set by Fliteboard for their equipment.
  • What to wear/bring: Appropriate swimming attire, sunscreen, towel, and a change of clothes are recommended. There is no storage available onboard the eFoils so do not bring anything you aren’t comfortable leaving in your car.
  • Swimming Ability: Being a strong swimmer is not necessary, though it is important to be comfortable in an open body of water.
  • Duration: A typical beginner session lasts roughly 2 hours between land instruction and ride time. Ride time is dictated primarily by student aptitude, the lesson ends once the battery is drained to the point of having to head back to shore.
  • Equipment: All gear needed to ride is included in the lesson. This includes the entire Fliteboard setup, personal floatation device (PFD), and a helmet with built in communication system.
  • Waiver: All participants must complete a waiver before their lesson.

Payments and Cancellations

  • Deposit: A $50 deposit is required to secure your time slot.
  • Payment Methods: We accept cash and credit cards. Sorry, we do not accept AMEX.
  • Package rates: Available upon request.
  • Cancellations: Any cancellations must be made no less than 24 hours in advance. Failure to do so will result in the forfeit of your deposit. In the event of a weather cancellation, your lesson can be rescheduled at no additional cost. Any lesson that is cut short due to weather will be resumed at the next available date.

Location

Our Fliteboard lessons and demos take place on the South River and launch from the Oak Grove Marina.

Launch Site

The launch site is a beach entry point that offers easy access to a long stretch of open, deep water (without speed restrictions) that is located close to shore. While always at the mercy of weather conditions, this stretch of water typically stays calm and allows for the best conditions to learn eFoiling.

Parking

There is plenty of parking available behind Yellowfin Steak & Fish House and on the adjacent service road.

Facilities

There are full restrooms with showers and changing facilities available at Oak Grove Marina.
